Little Birdy Quilt

I made this cute "birdy" quilt for a friend who was very sick.   She was so happy when I showed up at her door and handed it to her.  It made me feel happy to!  That's the best part about quilts - giving them away to people you love and care about!!!
I love the hand-stitched birdy legs!

There is flannel on the back & some pieces of the main fabric pieced in there too.  Don't mind the kid's toys in the backyard :)

Quilt for my Sister-in-Law

I helped my sister-in-law sew this quilt when we were together. I took it home and quilted it for her. It turned out really cute! I love the colors - they are very "her".

End of the Year Teacher Gifts

One of Ella's teachers is a boy - so I didn't know what to give him. He has a 2-yr old, so I thought I would whip up one of the "sally" dresses - turned out cute - he loved it!For Ella's other teacher, I made a cute quilted zippered bag. It was my first time quilting - I had several problems with it - but in the end it turned out darling.
Ella made some bottle cap pendants to go inside the purse - I love these.

4th of July Dresses

I made all the cousins matching 4th of July outfits. The smaller girls got the T-shirt dresses and the older girls got the skirt/shirt combo. I love the fabric and they all look so cute together.

4th of July Quilt

My Liberty Quilt is finished! I love this Moda Red, White, and Bold line. I wish they would have it forever! I also love pinwheels - and I like them mixed in with solid blocks so you can really see the pinwheel. Lately I have been appliqueing words in my quilts. I also love the scrappy border - just pick up what's left on the floor when you finish your quilt top and make a border!

A Circus Theamed Baby Shower

My friend, Mary, is having her first baby - we threw her a "Circus" baby shower last night.

I made Mary this cute polka dot quilt - I didn't want to cut the fabric up, so I just quilted it. On the back is blue polka dot flannel - it's like a receiving blanket quilt! It matched the "Circus" theme shower so cute!
We had popcorn, darling mini cupcakes,
Cotton Candy,
and caramel apples that you top yourself (nuts, chocolate chips, toffee & sprinkles)

Then we played a few circus inspired games and opened gifts. It was super fun!

Fabric Headband

I made a fabric headband to match Sally's "T-Shirt" dress. I made the flowers from cut up pieces of t-shirts. They are really cute - I think I will be making lots of these!

2 New Quilts

I used the scraps from the "I'm Blushing" quilt and made this smaller quilt to hang over my piano.

I've been spring cleaning - I hung a new quilt over my mantle and changed a few things around. Yes, it is an owl quilt :) Now I just need darling husband to rip out the ugly marble on the fireplace!!

Spring Quilt Finished!

My mother-in-law was here for a week and we launched into sewing this quilt from the Moda Bakeshop website. It turned out super cute!

The quilt was hard to machine quilt on a regular machine. I went through 7 bobbin-fulls of thread!!

Trying to pin it took up my entire family room floor. The quilt measures 57"x63"

Why I Sew

The other day, as I was cutting out my millionth valentine/owl quilt, I was wondering if I was wasting my time - I don't really need another quilt in my house!! Later that evening I found an answer to my question as I watched Ella gather my remaining scraps and lay them out to make a little pattern. Then, she sewed the pieces together to make a darling mini quilt top. I showed her how to pin baste and then we taped lines to guide her quilting. This was her first time machine quilting and she did the whole project by herself - no help! Then, we cut out the binding and she sewed it on and now she is hand sewing the binging down. THAT is why I sew!! I am so proud of my little sewer girl Ella!!

Sally is next, she already knows how to use pins, she can tangle thread all around the house, she loves buttons, and she thinks she is really sewing when she sits at the machine!
